About Us

WCPCF at Stumpy's Ranch

Stumpy had his leg amputated due to a motorbike accident over 8 years ago. During the course of those years, Stumpy yearned to help others of like himself so he designed a Wellness Center to help those who have an amputated limb rediscover the joys of life.

Stumpy lost his left leg below the knee, with 8 surgeries and one more to go he surprisingly has not had any bone degeneration in his opposite leg (limb) as most people do.

Stumpy was also the first recipient in Utah to receive the Ertel  procedure. It is a surgical procedure invented by Dr. Ertel in Arlington Massachusetts. IE: during surgery, the Doctor takes an inch of bone off the end of the bone and places it between the tibia and fibula to establish a flat walking surface instead of the nerves being at the end of the stump and causing pain when pressure is applied. So far, it has been a great success.

Stumpy has participated in many mentor activities and has been a test subject for the Shriners Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah  also with great success. Stumpy is looking forward with great anticipation to continue much needed Research in the field of Bone, Flesh and Cartilage.

Ever since the dramatic realization of life without a limb, it has been Stumpy's life long goal and dream to see that others who have lost a limb or need to use orthodic devices (and their families) do not need to suffer the trauma as he once did, by providing a place where they can go to experience and rediscover the joys in life they may not otherwise or ever be able to experience.

Stumpy realized that a lost limb caused him to be put in a position of "loss". Not the loss of a limb but the loss of life as he knew it. Things changed. He couldnt go to fun parks and ride some of the rides he used to before he lost his leg. He used to love riding horses and thought that maybe it would cause him to have to stop. Not Stumpy, he found a way to do what he wanted and that was to live without the "loss" and today he is an avid horse rider and goes golfing and running and riding rides at fun parks and swimming and fishing and everything else he used to do before he lost his leg.

Stumpy also believes that if he had the feeling of "loss" that others do/did too, which is what prompted him to help others in the endeavor of rediscovering the joys of life, so he created WCPCF at Stumpys Ranch where everyone can have family fun not just people who lost a limb.

Wellness Center for People with Prosthetics Charitable Foundation dba WCPCF is an operative nonprofit that promotes Community Development, Rehabilitation and Human Services for overall wellness for people with disabilities and their families.

WCPCF provides a Living Ranch facility at Stumpy's Ranch which is dedicated in providing a Safe, Clean and Green Environment for People with Disabilities including the Elderly and low income Families, focusing on People with Prosthetics, Orthodic Devices and those with Unusual or Life Threatening Medical Conditions and their Families to enjoy together the Healing Benefits of *Alternate Recreation; to Promote Invigoration and Wellness for a Better, Happier Life. Advocating Support for the Elderly, Children, Families and Helpless Animals.

WCPCF is anticipating participation in much needed research headed by Dr. Timothy Beals at the University of Utah Medical Center. This research will provide the data needed to promote new medical insight for people who have lost a limb in war or accident as Stumpy has, and discover the cause of the opposite limb bone degeneration and the prevention thereof, promoting new technologies in the regeneration of bone, flesh and cartilage.

By valuing both sweat equity and financial contributions, WCPCF combats the competitive edge by helping those that cannot help themselves in promoting a better lifestyle through Horseback Riding and participation in "Farming and Ranching in the Real World". These incentives are designed in mind to heighten Community Interests and lessen Government burden.

WCPCF is a Wellness Center Facility specifically designed for handicapped accessibility in a rural area of the Uinta Basin, Utah. Proceeds go toward Animal Rescue Projects, the poor, underprivileged, handicapped, disabled, elderly, and people with unusual or life altering medical conditions; to provide them and their families a stay at a real working Ranch i.e., the Wellness Center at Stumpys Ranch.

WCPCF invites People with disabilities and their families to stay at Stumpys Ranch specifically designed for handicapped accessibility where they can participate in alternate recreation to facilitate their purposed wellness needs to help improve the quality of life through: horseback riding, fishing, games, concerts, swimming, and the arts.

Guests will also be able to participate in Stumpys Farmers Market Program (motto: We Be Green!) where the volunteers and guests collect a portion of the home grown produce and ride on a horse drawn carriage to distribute it to the local Food Bank(s). Therapy for participation in al the above activities is intended to build self esteem, increase motor skills and give the participants faith in themselves for an accomplishment they may have thought never to be achieved which gives them hope and drive for further accomplishments at home and in society at large.

* Alternate Recreation: to participate in an activity that one does not engage in on a routine or frequent basis.
